ASICS NOVABLAST 6: More Bounce, Grip, and Comfort

Since its launch in 2020, the ASICS NOVABLAST has evolved into a popular all-round running shoe. The series is aimed at runners looking for a comfortable training shoe that works for both relaxed endurance runs and slightly faster sessions.

Recommended use for the NOVABLAST 6

The NOVABLAST 6 is a neutral all-round running shoe for daily training. It is particularly suitable for:

easy long runs
recovery sessions
moderate tempo runs
distances between 5km and marathon
asphalt as well as paved forest and field paths

Thanks to its high cushioning and dynamic rolling behavior, the shoe is a great option for both beginners and experienced runners.

If you're primarily looking for a very direct competition shoe, you might be better off with a lighter model featuring a carbon or plastic plate. The NOVABLAST 6 is more of a comfortable, versatile training partner.

ASICS NOVABLAST 5 vs. NOVABLAST 6

Novablast 6
Novablast 5

While its predecessor was already known for its bouncy feel, the NOVABLAST 6 is designed to feel even more responsive and controlled. The new foam structure supports a powerful toe-off without sacrificing the comfort of a classic daily trainer. There is also a significant change to the outsole. The combination of ASICSGRIP and AHAR LO is intended to provide better grip on various surfaces while remaining lightweight and abrasion-resistant.

Key updates

lower weight
more bounce and energy return
dual midsole made of FF BLAST MAX and FF TURBO SQUARED
integrated FF TURBO SQUARED trampoline pod
additional ASICSGRIP elements in the outsole
lighter and softer woven upper
slightly tighter fit in the midfoot area

Fit and upper material

For the upper, ASICS has replaced the previous jacquard mesh with a lighter and softer fabric. The material is designed to be breathable and hug the foot comfortably.

The NOVABLAST 6 has a slightly tighter fit in the midfoot. This ensures the foot sits more securely in the shoe, which can be particularly advantageous during faster sessions or changes of direction. The tongue construction provides additional midfoot stability and is designed to prevent slipping while running.

Runners with wider feet should try the shoe on before buying. For normal to narrower feet, the revised fit should provide a good and secure hold.
