Ultraboost 5 and 5x in Direct Comparison
The Adidas Ultraboost 5 and 5X are very similar overall, but differ in a few small details. Price-wise, there is no difference whatsoever between the two variants.
They are available in the same color combinations Cloud White / Glory Grey / Lucid Pink, as well as Carbon / Iron Metallic / Lucid Blue for those who prefer darker tones. The drop is 10mm each, with a sole height of 39mm to 29mm for the men's model, and 38mm to 28mm for the women's model.
Both the Ultraboost 5 and the Ultraboost 5X provide more cushioning and energy return, with the 5X, weighing 265g (men's model size 42/43), being even lighter than the already not-so-heavy 290g Ultraboost 5. The Ultraboost 5 for women with shoe size 38 weighs 248g, while the Ultraboost 5X weighs only 237g. This is mainly due to the upper material. The 5 has the familiar plastic construction of its predecessors, while the 5X foregoes this and fits even more like a sock on the foot. Both models are intended for recreational runners, although the 5X is also suitable for more serious purposes.
